The CF98 rods were an earlier version of Daiwa's bottom range rods - equivalent to the WF98/99 and Whisker ranges.
You will probably find it quite slow actioned compared to most of the more modern rods but it should be fine for learning to spey cast and fishing medium sized rivers.

They were slow rods but with a DT it shouldhave been alright, you have got to learn to slpw everything down, you just cannot go to slow
