Looking to purchase a floating and intermediate spey line - 10/11 for the coming season. Anybody got any ideas for a moderate caster.

Sorry --Tweed at Horncliffe early and the middle of the season and then the Teviot in the Autumn.
Have just bought 15' Greys GRX and was wondering what line would match or help my casting

Thanks for that Graham
Had wondered about the Patridge Ian Gordon Line, they seem to be getting good write ups in the Angling Press. I think GAC is doing them for £40 so i think i'll give them a ring.

If you don't mind spending a bit extra money the Carron Jetstream 75ft head 10/11 is very good.

Blackpennel If you don't mind spending a bit extra money the Carron Jetstream 75ft head 10/11 is very good. Newbie question so please bear with me, why 75ft head over 65ft head - is it purel y to carry a longer line for bigger rivers? Would a beginner be better of with a 65,75 or 80ft head line...

It depends on two things. - Are you a beginner and able to handle a head larger than 65ft. The longer the head you are using the less room for error there is.
- What width of rivers do you fish? Do you need to cast 20 yrd or 40yrds?
65ft heads are ideal for learning on or using on small rivers. The 75ft carron is the line I use all year. It can handle any river I have fished, with ease, however when casting long distances ,40yrds+ you do have to strip in a fair amount of running line until you get the head back to the top eye. The 85ft head will cast large distances with ease. You can also control the line at distance a bit easier and there isn't as much stripping required.

Is that you showing off ;D Gordon is actually being very modest he forgets to mention the 95ft head on the 14ft rod or the long head on the 18ft rod.
