I've bought a Grays GRX 14ft #9/10 rod. This is my first Salmon fly rod.
What concerns me is the conflicting reports about Grays GRX rods some praise them and others report that they break quite often so does anyone out there have a Grays GRX Salmon rod that they are pleased with or should I get rid and buy something else before the season starts.

Cannot comment on the GRX salmon rods, but i have fished hard for 3 seasons with a 15ft greyflex mark 1 rod and have no complaints at all. It has performed well in all sorts of conditions.

Thank you Sealicer. I've also got a Grayflex Salmon spinning rod and its fine. I think its going to be a case of going and giving the GRX a try and see how it performs and keep my fingers crossed JAD

I think that your'e rod will be sound. They are sturdy rods and even I can't break one!, the only time I've seen a grey's break was at the CLA this year when a friend and I were hitting the big 50 with a 13' greyflex m2!!!! good fishin' Blair

I've got the greys grx 15ft 6 piece and the only moment of breakage i've had was my fault ie standing on the tip ! - always a sensible thing to do! I sent the offending section off to greys and received the replacement section back 3 days later - great customer service. I've had the rod for two seasons now and very happy with it. Davey

I have the 15' 10/11 Greyflex [Mk 1] and it is superb - it is my favourite 15 footer despite owning a number of more expensive rods. The GRX is not [IMO] as good and given that both art now heavily discounted I would advise you to get the Greyflex. I am told by those whose opinion I trust that the newer Greyflx Mk2 is even better than the original. If this is the case it will be outstanding.
