Guys - first post and its a copy of the one on FFF but I thought hell, I'll join here too to do even less work!
I’m going to have another good go at getting in to Spey casting this year. I have a rod and have had it for a while, it is a 15foot B&W Hexagraph ( 10/11 wt I think ). Now I have seen people cast extremely well with these rods, but not me yet.
My question is this:- Is it suited for leaning with?
The fact it is slightly heavy does not worry me, I’m a very big lad. I have naturally very poor timing so a forgiving rod is needed. I had thought about buying a Shakespeare Oracle IV, but would this be just a waste of money and the Hexagraph would serve as well when I’ve learnt to cast?
I have a DT mill end 11 wt floater – would a different line make a better purchase than a new rod?
This is not my main area of fishing ( night time sewin fishing is ) so I’m not going to spend mega money on stuff.
