A I tried out the B/W 4piece 10/11 today, terrific rod is my description of it. I tried it with a Windcutter,an Ian Gordon 65 head and a Wetcell 2 and lastly with a Guideline shooting head setup. Nae bother ! The butt section has one ring on it, which I felt needed to be bigger and needed to be moved higher up the rod by a couple of inches to facilitate the the longish running lines which can get caught up on the lower rod ring , I did that with my Norway 15 ft 10/11 and it worked a treat. The rod is being send back down next week sometime to have the modification done, then of course,I will have no excuses when it comes back. I'm told there will be more made to sent out for field testing before the final "recipe" is found before it goes on the market later in the year.Anyone in theTay area fancy a "shottie"send me a PM.

Hope the 10/11 is best with an 11/12 line like the present one. Don't fancy having to change 4 lines if I buy one ( I would prefer the 4 piece - easier to transport and store - and occasionally when fishing in evening I have to leave rod in car during the day in a fairly dodgy location while I'm at work)

Kercock, If it's returned to you by the 18th or the 25th I would like a chuck with it. I'm thinking on buying a blank for building a new 15ft or 16ft rod and don't know which one to go for. I got prices from bruce and walker, harrisons and CTS in New Zealand. Bob Meiser from Oregon builds his latest series of rods on CTS blanks and apparently they have actions that are very hard to beat. Harrisons also have a new range of blanks out (LORHIC) that are built on the same carbons as Loomis and other top makes. I've tried Norways before but only for five minutes at a time and never got a chance to experiment with different lines. My problems start with price. Harrisons are the cheapest, but they always offer quality for a sensible price. However, I built on a Harrisons blank before and found it a little soft for my style of casting. B&W are more expensive, probably really good actions, but I would probably be paying more for the name than the materials and research used for the blank. CTS are the most expensive, but I've heard rave reviews about Meiser's "long rods". If you can lay your hands on a Norway 16ft and a long belly line 75ft+ for playing with it would be great to have a play with! Not that I'm asking for much

Well I got my Norway 15' 9/10 for my birthday and was out at Coupar grange with it on the 3rd. I would love to say I loved it but instead I really struggled with it. It seems so much faster than the Alltmor. The hardy sink tip just doesn't seem to like it at all. I did try my Evans 11 full sinker and that wasn't so bad. It just feels stiffer and faster. will have to get more practise and probably some IG lines.

Zeolite,
Is it the Hardy Distance Spey sink tip that you tried with it?

No, not the Distance Spey then. It's just that I have the distance spey sink tip and find it a hard line to match with any rod. It just seems to be hard work!!!

Zeolite,
Hardy lines might be too light for your rod. I have Hardy Salmon Floating shooting head #10-11 that weights 40 grams. Cause I like it a lot I ordered same head as a fast sinker. Haven't tested it yet, but I measured it and it was a lot shorter than the floater and weights 31 grams!!! No use with the Norway 15' 9-10.

I have three Hardy Mach 1 lines, slow intermediate (the pale green one), slow sinker and fast sinker rated 9/10, and all weigh 39grms. I use these, along with a Snowbee 1D 9/10 floater (39 grms), on my 13' Guideline LPX-e 8/9. Perfect combination for this rod, the floater in particular and it will turn over a 10' fast sink polyleader.

Hi Richard,
How's things? My mate is still going strong with that Snowbee line you very kindly donated. His casting is coming on. No fish yet but maybe this season.
How are you liking the Guideline 13ft. I had a credit at a tackle shop and wanted one but they hadnt got any in stock and ended up with the loop blue 13'2 for a 9 wt. Seems like a nice enough rod but i wish I'd waited for the Guideline from what people have been saying.
Are you using heads or just the hardy lines with it?
Sam
PS Sorry about hijacking the thread Kercock

Sam Just sent you a PM.
Richard
PS The lines are the full Mach1 lines with the 51' head, not the shooting heads.

I had a guy who fishes the lower Tay a lot try the rod out yesterday using his own lines.you would not believe the flylines this fella carts around. Anyway, his opinion was..... stunning .It his now his "must have" ....munroe,this rod would appear to be right up your street.! fruin ,The rod is going back to the factory next Thursday,I will ask very nicely if it can be done asap. I have the 16ft Norway and BW are sending me up some of their long belly lines to play with I did'nt know they did lines but seemingly the should have been sent to me ages ago ! So hopefully you can keep yourself occupied the next time you are up. We aim to please ! Anyone in the Tayside area (or any other area) want try the 4 piece out before next Thursday 16th. send me a PM,lets see if it can be arranged, but not Saturday, toooooooooooo busy.

Apart from the obvious, how (if at all) does it vary from the 3 piece?

No price has been worked out yet neither is there a date set for it to go on the market. There will be some more made to be sent out to other ghillies ,if you know any ghillies who get "complimentary rods" from B/W it will be a safe bet that some of them will be asked to test one.BW won't go ahead with it until they get several opinions. My opinion could easily be well down their list of priorities, I asked about it at the right time I guess. The rod itself is,slightly heavier than the three piece and is a bitter stiffer also, in my opinion. It is not as tippy ,but a rod is different things to different people, like any other rod,try before you buy. Those who have tried it thought it was great, including me. I'm sorry if all that seems a bit negative as far as information goes. Try it when the opportunity arises then tell me what you think...................It will be in your area soon
