I don't know, but I am obviously very childish because as I was thinking about replying the thought of an "Ian Gordon 65 foot floater", made me giggle, thinking of something horrific bobbing down the Mersey.
Sorry I'm not worthy of this forum - I'll go back to gwlad.

Provided you are a reasonble caster then the longer head should suit fishing a big river.
Which river are you fishing?

Madkeen a friend of mine might have a 75' head floater for sale, its been used twice and is as new. He bought the 75' head as the shop had run out of the shorter head line and now wishes he had waited to get a 65' head.
sjf thanks for the image, should make for some weird dreams..........killer turds.

I have the B & W 16' for a #9/10 and find the 11/12 weight 75' floater to work very well with it, i've since lopped 8' off the tip to help turnover 10' polytip fastsink leaders, although this has improved things a little, i think a bit more needs to come off which puts me into scardie cat 'hope I don't take too much off & wreck it' territory. Wlibert if your friend has an 11/12 75' floater for sale and Madkeen isn't, well, keen, I certainly am.
Cheers.

I made a mistake with my line rate, it is infact 10/11. Wilbert, look forward to your reply. It would be good to have a safety net to experiment with if it is the 10/11 - 75'head.
Mad For me the 10/11 weight works a treat with my 16' powerlite 9/10.

Just tried my Ian Gordon floater on a local lake on a 15ft Shakespear Invicta iV and a 16ft Daiwa WF98 the line really goes out well even into the wind, the change in colour makes casting so easy. Im no expert but easily nicest line I have cast with.
Also tried a Airflo Multi tip speyline which wasnt so good !!

Clydebuilt I will ask him if its still for sale or if he has decided to keep it. He was undecided if the 75' head was too long for him and if he should get a 65' head instead.

I've had two IG lines from Turriff Tackle. Same price as Fawcetts, but it's good to know that you're supporting a small local dealer (ref your Alness/Invergordon thread) in a small way, as well as a member and sponsor of this board.

Didnt think of Turrif to be honest. My local tackle shop deals mainly in trout fishing and can only order a minimum of 6 spey lines (5 of which he doesnt think he'd sell so thats a no-go!) but cheers for the tip. Turrif it is. Clydebuilt
