Daiwa Altmor Spey Line

Just (today) bought a Daiwa Altmor spey line 11# in sinking rate of 7.5cm/second to go with a 12.5cm/second fast sink I bought for the Tweed last year.Most impressed last year thats why I bought this slower sinking one.Now the fast sinker should have a Black head and the sinker a Purple head,but they are both near as damn the same brown colour.Both packagings state the lines are as required,so do I question Daiwa Q.C. procedures or their ability to put the right line in the right box ?. Have fished the faster sinking one and it is what it says.Any one out there been down the same road ?

One way of testing whether the sink rates are differnt, is to snip half an inch off each head and using a clear glass vase or some other tall vessel full of water, and drop the pieces in and time their descent. You should time them individually as sometimes the little piece of line will be trapped in the meniscus and will need a poke to get it on its downward journey.

Discussions about a purple head on a saturday night....bit more like the internet

Last time I got my purple head out it came back in tatters. I said Suck it not Fillet It!!!! Boom boom!!!

Daiwa profiles

Floating yellow to lilac
Neutral yellow to violet
sinking yellow to purple
fast sinking yellow to black

Sink rates Neutral 3.8 to 4.4 cm per second
sinking 5.2 -7.5 cm per second
Fast sinking 10.6 cm - 12.5 cm per second.

Hope this helps.
The colours appear the same from the above but look very different on the lines- more like lilac/Burgundy/brown/black.

Thanks folks ,some of these web sites visited sound dubious will report back when I have studdied them all carefully and as for the boring bit about the lines, I could say suck it and see but then we get back to the first bit again,the wife thinks this site is perfectly innocent,little does she know!
