Has anyone had any experience with this rod ? I have one on the way in the post as I was lucky enough to win T&S fish of the month competition for May. How will it compare to my B&W 15' 9/10# Norway? It could be a while before I get chance to compare them both due to the world cup being on a a family holiday fast approaching plus the rivers around me are low and not much rain is forecast either. Cheers.

Wilbert
TyneAndrew has both of these rods so will probably offer his opinion when he reads your post.
From my limited use of his Gordon it seems to lack the backbone of the Norway but its a great floating line / small fly rod.

Indeed, i do have both these rods. Its been a while since the Gordon has been out though.
Like Dave said it is a much lighter rod, ideally suited for summer grilse fishing. I love using it in perfect summer conditions on more glassy/smooth water with my Lee Wulff full floater as it offers more delicate presentation.
There is no way it would be used for intermediates/tubes as it does not have the backbone for it.

Rod arrived today, looks very nice just one thing that caught my eye though, the blank looks identical to the Shakespeare Oracle IV. Coincidence ? The rod is finished better and comes in a nice case. Will give it a test as soon as we get some water, no point wasting time when there is no water might as well kill 2 birds with one stone and do some fishing whilst assessing the rod.

By the looks of the forecast the rain may not be too far away, my fingers are crossed.
The case is nice, i agree.

Look forward to what you think of the Sharps 'Gordon' when you try it out Wilbert. I've just bought one from Foxons last week but have not tried it out on the Welsh Dee as yet

I used the Sharps Gordon 15ft - 10# for the first time yesterday it was a bit slow in the action but taking my time with it and letting the rod work I was casting a good line. The line I used with the rod was a Airflo Delta spey floater 10/11# Next time I want try it with the Airflo 5ft Polyleaders. (Intermediate and Super fast sinkers that I have) All in all I'm quite pleased with the rod. It looks good and it casts OK and for a beginner like me what more can I ask
