hi all, wondering if any of you can help me, im looking for a material use for tying seatrout flies called scooby tube ,, is this the correct name for it??? if not can you please tell me what is?? and mabye help me find a supplier? i live in fife scotland if you know of any supplier local to me great if not mail order is just as good .

Good news its cheep as hell, its actually a kids toy but its starting to go out of fashion (thank god my daughter used to drive me mad with them, leaving them all over the house) so not as many shops are selling them. Woolworth's used to sell them, they cost about £2 a bag and you get about 100 in each bag. They are about 2 foot in length and about the same diameter as the inside of a Biro but they are very soft and flexible. I have not used them to tie any tubes yet but have seen some and they look good.

thanks wilbert, is scooby tubes the correct name for them? i will feel a right twit aking for a kids toy especially if its not even the right name and i have to stand and explain what i am looking for lol. thanks scotty.

hi guys, thanks alot for the info so fast,springer i sent u a pm thanks alot for that m8,hope they work for me by the way my trip up the spey to grantown last week,well what can i say sunny sunny sunny sunny sunny sunny sunny oh and low water so no fish, but i lost one on saturday in big stream still not to worry im just catching up on the lost sleep now lol i was out at 3.30 am most mornings lol silly me. cheers scotty.

I have seen some small tubes tied on the plastic part of a cotton bud, its about the same diameter as a scooby but not as flexible / soft but I would imagine that this makes them easier to tie. there is a shop in town selling packs of scooby's for 50p if anyone wants them i will send them a pack in return for a tied scooby tube.
