Ordered the new 4 piece Norway speycaster 10/11 and decided I would splash out and buy new floater and intermediate lines. I will from time to time be using these lines with a variety of 10' polyleaders and know that not all lines can turn these over well. Any suggestions as to which lines have a thick enough taper to handle these.
Also recently purchased the 14' Oracle as a back up to my Alltmor 14' which broke for the third time during casting. What a rod ! It casts an absolute dream. 30+ yds was effortless with a 65' 9/10. Best £45 I've every spent on tackle. The Alltmor will now be the back up.

Jock, you could try Lee Wulffs in either 70 or 80 ft heads,I have both floater and intermediate and use them with polytips all the time,it helps if you cut off the front taper a bit about 18ins, 2ft at most that will help with turn over ok,if you get two of the same make you will not have to change casting styles if you change lines, the intermediate and a fast sink polytip will give you wet 2 sinking performance.Pedro.

Thanks Rennie. I may end up doing that, but I don't fancy cutting the line as it might affect performance without polyleader.
Currently I'm thinking of purchasing 75' IG floating and intermediate lines, although I won't known the best line rating until I get the rod and test it. I may even phone B&W and ask their advice re. line rating for the rod once I have identified the make of line I'm gong to buy. I know the IG lines probably won't turn over a polyleader but I have a reel with an old DT11 cortland floater which will and another with a wetcell 11 and together these will hopefully cover anything I need outwith a straight floating and intermediate line.

To G Ritchie
Thanks for the info, I was thinking the exact same. I have a 9/10 delta spey (65' head) for my 14' rod and it can handle my 10' polyleaders in most conditions.
I've tried the 9/10 on a friends 15' 10/11 norway and while I can cast it, it is too light a line for that rod so I was thinking if I go to 75' head then I might need the 11/12. I don't know if the 4 piece 10/11 that I am probably going to buy ( not committed to purchase, one is being sent up and I'll try before I buy ) will have the same power and action as the 3 piece but I suspect it will.
I'm hoping a 75' 10/11 will load the rod properly but I've a sneaky suspicion your are correct and I'll require the 11/12
11/12 seems such a heavy outfit and these days I'm looking to fish as light as possible. But horses for courses, there will still be times when I'll need that power and it will still be lighter and less effort than my current 15' original C98 Daiwa (all 14 1/2 oz of it) which while being able to handle anything I'm knacked after a day pumping out a wetcell 11 and heavy fly.
If I get the 15' norway, any young buck out there looking to take up salmon fly fishing and needing a 15' 10/11 can have it for the price of the postage. It owes me nothing and I'll happily give it away to a good home. Be warned it is heavy compared to some of the current rods, but with over 200 salmon to its name it is well broken in.
