Hi Can anyone give me any info/a review on this rod? How does it compare to the 15' LPXe? Any views appreciated.

Sorry Hodge - never had one in my hands, although I have had a chuck with the 15' LPXe and it is a nice rod and good value for the money. I'm told the Le Cie is a better rod to cast with - but suppose it's how to define "better" - what's your preference, fast action/slow action etc. I'm sure someone here will have had a cast with one and possibly the 15' LPXe, in order a meaningful comparison can be made. Cheers, Altmor.

IMHO it is a fast rod, but a bit easier for timing than the LPXe 15'. Works great with Guideline Power Tapers #10-11 at 12-12,5 meters "long". Carron 85' floater and LeCie 15'9 is a wonderful combo too.

Hi Hodge,
I bought a LeCie 15' 9" this year and have used it a fair amount, including the Kharlovka and E. Litza in tough spring conditions. It is a superb rod. Best suited to large rivers. It works very well with the Guideline DDC Shooting Heads - you can easily cast long distances all day with this type of outfit.
I know a few people who have bought the LeCie rods after giving up on some very expensive US rods.
Well worth bying in my opinion but does depend on the rivers you fish.

Agree with John's comments above. Since buying this rod over a year ago, it is definately up there with the best I've used. You wouldn't really know you have a rod over 15ft in your hands. It's a relatively fast action rod, but does have a nice feel to it. I typically use this with rod with Ian Gordon lines rated 11/12, Bill Drury Guideline Spey 10/11 and Hardy Mach 10/11...all various densities......and all very well matched.
For big river fishing, this is a great rod....no doubt!

Hi,would you rate this rod better than a b&w Norway?

By a margin.....but that's my own personal taste. Others may disagree. I guess different casting styles and techniques dictate what type of rod one likes.
I sold my Norway last year. Out of date now IMO.

Hi,would you rate this rod better than a b&w Norway? I only got my 15' 9" Le Cie quite late in the season but it casts Power Tapers a country mile and I caught quite a few fish with the S1/S2 rig. The crisp action suits these shooting heads and a short stroke sends it out high and handsome. I tried it with a Lee Wulff Intermediate 80' head and was not so convinced. Still to try it with my Carron lines but I suspect the through action of my 16' B&W Norway suits the long bellies better. I love spey casting my 14' LPXe however and intend to try the 15' version at the first opportunity. Suspect it will be a better allrounder.

Wondering if anyone has noticed that there is a bit of a loud noise when beginning to cast with these rods? I have seen two getting used and both times i have heard a distinct noise ,probably caused by the line rubbing against the rings when being shot on the forward cast.I believe this stops after a few casts but i would be worried that it may cause degradation on the line.Has anyone noticed this or can advise that there is no problems with the line with extensive use?I have heard nothing but good reviews and the rods seem to chuck a line the proverbial country mile.

My Le cie 15'9 had some epoxy that had dripped off of the whippings and had left a sharp ridge on one of the rings. I saw it and it snapped off cleanly fairly easily, other than that I cannot say enough good stuff about the rod. My first few casts I could not maintain an anchor, the rod is so powerful. It needs minimal power input to fire a long line.
Cheers, Simon

Re: GuideLine LPXe 15' 10/11. A friend, who is not on the net, showed me the above rod tonight and a crack about 1.5 inches had appeared on the male section below the joint on the btm section. On inspecting it further we found the same on the middle joint. These are hairline cracks except the one on the btm section can be felt through the varnish. The rod is about 3 years old and he does tend to "hit" it. The joints are always taped. Anybody any ideas? Cheers.

Sounds fairly serious.
If he can't claim on his insurance (house contents or sports equipment), the only method of repair I can think of would be to try whipping over the cracked areas - not very aesthetically pleasing, but it might help.
If he keeps 'hitting' his rod, I'd aalso suggest he tries a B&W Norway next time!

Will pass on your comments though. Cheers.

Real good combo I recommend tis to any one that wants to cast over 40 yards comfortably.

They said he must tape his joints and that is what had caused the damage. It is part of our religion to tape our rods here, so I don't know what to make of their comments. As they didn't charge him anything he is quite happy
