Anybody used these? I'm looking for an intermediate and they're going for 20 quid just now. Is it worthwile or should i leave it. At these prices i could get myself a sinker too. Any advice much appreciated. Cheers

I have both the fast and very fast. They are fine and excellent value for money. I bought them for the rare occasions I need them. I use IG floating and intermediate for most of my fishing but could not justify paying the same money for sinking lines I would rarely be using.

Like Jock I bought the v fast sinker in case I need it one day, say on a deep Tweed dub.
I haven't cast it yet, but a friend has the floater and he likes it.

thanks chaps. that was my thinking too, i won't be using a sinker much so no point spending a fortune on one. Think i might go for it

Must say I applied slightly different logic. Not using a fast sinking line that often, compared to floater or intermediate, I went for a "good quality" line, ie an IG one, and I'm glad I did.

I understand your reasoning robmason. But the thing about a line that won't break the bank is that it's a good training aid if nothing else. How many of us get to try out a line before buying it? At least you have somthing to compare it to. I'm actually looking at an IG for an intermediate myself, heard good things about them

i bought a reel off e-bay and got the Lochmore #11 medium sinker free....i've given it a few casts and so far so good...... i also got a Worcestershire intermediate free with another reel, as mentioned in another post and so far so good..... i think some lines are over-rated when it comes to cost...... certainly to a novice like me on a small river!I have an Ian Gordon floater, Hardy Mach2 floater.... the worcestershire intermediate and the Locmore spey medium sink... and i'd say with my limited experience that i cant cast them all equally as far or should i say as short?? but maybe thats just my poor casting and small river?? others will im sure disagree and probably rightly so!
If i had to pick a favourite line...it'd probably be the Mach 2 floater..... and i hope to buy the sink tip this year when it warms up a bit...still £50 is pretty steep for what is at the end of the day plastic and string.....well kind of!! haha what do i know!!??!!

Johnmac, I agree the Hardy Mach is an excellent line and one I do most fishing with. I have the Mach 1 floater #10 matched to an Alltmor 15'6" - a great set up for me anyway.
I haven't tried the Mach 2 and wondered if you (or any other forum member), can compare the two lines, as I'm due to replace the Mach 1 soon.
Previously I fished with LW triangular tapers and found them brilliant, again matched to the Alltmor rod, but with a 75' head, a different style to cast with in comparison to the Mach 1.
Also have a Mach 1 mated to a Hardy Elite 13'4" for lighter, summer work and haven't tried anything yet that comes close to this set up.
I like the Mach 1's but wondered if the Mach 2's differ. Any advice would be most helpful.

Sounds a good deal and one not to miss.
Johnmac,
I have used the Hardy Mach 2 Floater, Floater sink tip and the Wet 2 and thought all have been superb even with with my limited casting ability.
If i had to chose what to get first then it would be the sink tip as you can alter your set up as per the conditions, ie heavier / lighter tube or double etc.
The lines are made by Cortland for Hardy so you know they are quality, and as for the price well it is a sore one but it comes down to the individual at the end of the day.

altmor and hornet.....
Ive never used the Mach 1 but i rate the Mach 2 very highly....i have the full floater and it casts very well on my Oracle 13ft'er.... i think the sink tip will be my next buy!
Its just the price of lines that gets me...... £50....its a bit steep! I think the Mac2 only comes in a #10 as well...... ?? but i'd maybe prefer a #11?? for better punt when casting? but maybe thats just my poor technique?

Meant to say that the Mach2 were all 9# tested on a Greys Mk2 14ft DH.
As mentioned they were very good to use especially the sink tip.

Hardys are now doing the mach 2 in a 11. I phoned Fawcetts yesterday and they will have them in stock early Feb, available in Floater, Intermediate and sink-tip. Have a look at www.hardyfishing.com.

Ditto, thanks for that - I'll look at the #11 floater or sink tip. Thanks to all.
