Has anyone tried this knot for tying line to backing I tried it the other night & the strength of it is amazing, never moved when putting 25lb strain on it, also forms a very small knot For any old sidewinder trawlermen out there I think this is the same knot that was used for attaching the lease line to the dan leno & I have never seen one of them slip & you are speaking of tons of weight there www.flyanglersonline.com/begin/knots/castwell.html

Never tried it, but I'd be worried about it coming loose on the reel when it was not held together by tension - and you wouldn't know until you hooked a big fish!

Hi Elwyman
Try it on a old bit of backing & line, you will see it is always tight if tied right
You could release it from the dan leno because it was 1in Dia rope attached to a chain link but i certainly cant take the knot out of the fly line
