Kercock you can get B&W rods cheeper than those web prices from a shop in Lancaster, not by much though £10 - £15 or so and you can trade older rods in too if you wish.

Funnily enough, when I bought my Aquarex from sportsfish and was also eying up a B&W rod, I asked why both were on sale. The reason I was given was that they were no longer stocking them. Odd... two British manufacturers ousted...
Especially odd considering we know Sharpes is on the up and up given it's recent aquisitions...

wilbert.............I sit corrected ! I have bought a LOT of B/W rods on behalf of anglers,a fair percentage of them from Purelywhatsit I have always quoted the lowest price I could find including one in Lancaster and he has always beaten it.is there more than one B/W stockist in that town ? Do tell. I would certainly change the place of purchase,no sweat.

The Aquarex were discontinued and replaced with the Gordon Range. I now believe that they stock the full range of T&T as well as Abel . Remember one million % of nothing is nothing. one million percent of a lot - is even more.

kercock there is only 1 B&W stockist in Lancaster. I have bought 2 B&W rods off them in the last 12 months and both have been cheaper than the web prices, dont know what they charge for postage as I collected both of mine as its not too far from home.

I was surprised not to see the Oracle or Bloke in the T&S test.

On a test of Chinese blanks the Bloke surely should have been there

Was throwing the Bloke 15' 5 piece 10/11 with an 11/12 Ian Gordon the other day - superb. It was so easy I almost felt that I was cheating. This combination throws a very long line indeed and is also a pleasure to use at closer range.

I don't really sneer at the Chinese blanks, the fact is that it seriously pi**es me of the way that the so-called "Manufacturers " put their labels on the rods all in the name of bigger profit..I would certainly agree that the Ron Thomson rod is a good un. and there are others around including the Oracle, both of which surprised me, and such a low price too.. You can bet good money that the more expensive rods cost the same amount of money to produce ie Grays, now that REALLY gets to me, and soon it will be Hardys too.. Just don't get me started on Orvis who make..................NOTHING.. It is purely a marketing company.

What is even more galling is that I am reliably told (by a retired importer) That it costs very little more to make say a 15ft salmon blank compared to say a 12 dt float rod. Yet there is a big difference in retail cost (and profit). I guess tho that it is all about number of rods sold. regards F

Frank Actually I had a feeling it was replaced with the other new range they have released (the Sharpes rod which was actually in the review in question). I can't find the homepage to check what it was called but it wasn't the Gordon and was a more similar price to the Aquarex (the Gordon is cheaper)

I think that is the range with 3" added to all the rods as the differentiator.
The Plus range, but they dont go past a 10'3" in length.

Being one of those involved this catastrophic failure,I thought it best to tell you at the time what I thought had caused the break.I then called the factory and gave them a different story,to your advantage. However it now occurs to me that,in the light of what you have just stated, The real catastrophic failure was mine,in attempting to help you out. Be very sure this will not happen again Owen. A joke is a joke, this one,if it was meant to be one,is very far from it.
