Hi all, just curious to know if anyone has any experience of this rod, and what lines etc are recommended. Many thanks in advance, Whitetrout

Haven't used this rod, sorry.
I do use an 11' 3" B&W Salmo/Sewin which is excellant during the summer - that size of rod is useful and well worth having.
I have heard the Swift is a good rod.

Had another look yesterday and saw the dreaded sticker on the bottom of the butt 'made in korea' so I'll not be buying one

Hi Whitetrout, called in at Hardys factory and tried out the rod in question, my own opinion is that the line rating for the rod is way off. (as has been the case with many recent Hardy rods) Tried a wf 7f. very poor, then I. Gordon 7/8f. spey line, my own line, marginal immprovement, then tried the Hardy Mach2 8 weight salmon line, with the head length all but through the end eye I thought the rod was starting to shape up. As has been stated many times, try befor you buy. I would like to stress again that this is my personel opinion on how i found the rod to be, what suites one may not suite another. Good Luck. folks tried that rod with a DT7 floater, on saturday night and fishing pip is right, tis too light for it. Was fishing this morning but too breezy for that rod and had to use the 8/9wt rod. will give it a go with a mach 1 8/9 floater and see how that works. any ideas let me know folks. Whitetrout

Hi Whitetrout, If memory serves me right, the Hardy Mach 1 has a short head, if your a fan of shooting line and pulling you might get away with it, (I have my doubts) An alternative line to try might be the Snowbee 2D 8/9 F. this may sound like a lot of line, but I think the Snowbee spey lines are a little lighter than the spec. (my own opinion) Good luck with your Mach 1, I am curious as to how you end up line wise. Fishingpip.
