Guys (& Dolls) Got the option to buy one of these reels at a reasonable price. Mainly to use for my spey lines and hopefully salt water in the not too distant future. Any one had experience of these reels, good or bad?? I own a Riptide and a Pacific both of which I use primarily for saltwater angling and have landed large tuna and trevally using them. They really are as good as it gets with ceramic coated drive components and a large cork disc drag and are the equal of Abel reels. In the US they are the go to reels for saltwater fly fishing and probably used by more serious saltwater flyfishers than any other brand. They have new QC models out last year which are very pretty and have a quick change spool release which means that you can pick the originals up at good prices. The Riptide would balance a 13/14ft rod the Gulfstream a 15fter and the Pacific (gulp its 5" plus in diameter) a 16fter. Sportsfish were selling them at half price (reels and spools) recently. A nice touch is that they come with a wee half moon shaped plate onto which they will engrave your name free of charge - nice cheers Splash
