 After using disc drag reels for a while I bought this Daiwa reel on eBay. I think the pawls are set up for left hand wind but would like confirmation from someone familiar with this type of reel. An explanation of the rules controlling direction of wind would be useful Cheers Brian |

It is set for LHW. Regarding rules, on this reel as you look at your picture the LH pawl (one nearest the top of your Pic.) will be engaging the cogs on the spool in such a way that there will be more resistance to line being pulled from the spool. To disengage simply rotate the pawl down (clockwise) until it clicks into same position as RH pawl. To engage the RH pawl for RHW, rotate it clockwise until it clicks in. Hope this makes sense.
