the sage ultra light spey is 12" 5 weight, now my question is what size of reel would be used with this rod, a 5 weight trout reel? or a salmon reel loaded to the max with backing then a 5 weight line? any thoughts.  scotty. |

I had one of these for a while. Used a Windcutter 5/6 spey line on a System 2 Large Arbour 890 which was a nice balanced set up.
To be honest I couldn't do anything with it that I couldn't do with a 9'6 7 weight single hander. I felt it was a double hander for double handedness sake (if that makes sense). I liked the rod, just couldnt see the point.
