What would be the best way to form a secure loop on a shooting head for loop to loop connections, and would i sleeve it afterwards? Many thanks for help offered.. Ian

Not saying this is the best way, its simple and has never let me down.
Get a selection of braided loops, suitable for salmon. Strip 2" of the pvc (can be done with nail varnish remover)coating off the fly line so you are left with the core.
Slip the loop onto the bare core. Now using some gelspun 30lb bs backing(very fine and strong) tie 3 nail knots over the join, not on top of one another, in sequence next to each other. It would be wise to experiment first, before tackling the fly line. There's a knack to this and it can produce a very neat finish if done competently.
Stretch and test the connection and then coat liberally with aquasure. It can be quite tricky getting the aquasure to dry evenly and neatly.
There was an excellent photo thread on this or the previous forum on how to do this, try a search.
