For those of you who don't know the roads in that area too well and are going down the A68 WATCH THE SPEED CAMERAS. There are quite a few after Dalkeith strategically placed to catch the unwary motorists who has been stuck behind a caravan for a few miles and then sees what he thinks is a golden opportunity to overtake.

Just got back from the game fair and had an enjoyable afternoon.
Gordon - you are one hell of a caster. Shame the cast you did before the start whistle was not in the allocated time. It looked to me to be around the 54yd + mark.

OK, not bad for a first effort - a fair bit there to see and as is my way (post moth invasion ) spent loads on fly tying stuff Very dissapointed I couldn't play with more of the rods & lines - fair play, chances I would buy are slim but the opportunities to play were limited Really hoped to have a cast with a Scott, but it didn't happen and frankly the demo was not of much use to me. What the rod does in my hands peaks my interest more!! Had a couple of useful chats and joined the Wild Trout Trust. If they do it again next year I'd go, but I won't be taking my wife with me as I was getting digs in the ribs after an hour and we got there at 0930 on saturday.......

My wife gave up and went to sit in the car at around 2o'clock.I went over and watched the final of the Speycasting, then wandered around ,had a chat with some very interesting people before feeling a bit guilty (just a wee bit mind! ) went to the car and headed back north again around 4 o@clock. I certainly enjoyed though, but then,I did'nt go there shopping .....

Enjoyed the fair a lot - good formula of price versus quality participants. Pity about the upstream breeze on the casting side.
Finally joined the Salmon and Trout Association - strictly a commercial proposition - they promised me more salmon in the long term, moreover 10% off a pair of Optilabs specs will leave me £1.18 in the black !
Nice leather gear at the Carron stand.
Eoin, the raft broke down at Makerstoun on the way home so am having to use the sage for emergency undercover fishing, not really needing rescued - just some advice on fly size for night salmon.

Nice leather gear at the Carron stand. M Kinky B------ ;D Yes this was the only stand where I thought Fiona Richmond would have fitted in modelling a leather chest bag and matching waders.

Yes this was the only stand where I thought Fiona Richmond would have fitted in modelling a leather chest bag and matching waders. With Gwyneth and myself on the stand there was no place for scruffy birds in leather gear, the Carron name has always stood for pure class.

Seems to me the principal of leather and feather is agreed but the 'bird' was out of date - feel free to substitute your own !!
Malcolm it was good to meet you at the Carron stand. In the words of George Dewar you were distinctly "in danger of looking dapper" ie verrry smart.

NB I think we all had better give Eoin Fairgrieve a warm thanks for his efforts - he looked ready to net when I said cheerio at 5.30.
