I'd appreciate any advice re day ticket water/tactics and ghillies for The Ericht. I believe it has a very good run of fish and is inexpensive compared to the big rivers. I've never stayed in this area so recommendations for acommodation would be useful too.
Thanks in anticipation
Danny

;DHi Danny...and welcome to the forum, im a member on the Ericht and have been for the last five odd years, but im yet to catch a Salmon! bit to be fair....this is my first season of Salmon fishing, as until now i've been trying the trout only, of which there are plenty! but i fancies a change. I think a day ticket is £20 and cheap at that! The returns are good when there is water....... and its well worth a go! As for flies...... floaters are pretty mcuh the norm. maybe a sink tip added? Allly shrimp, cascade and willy Gunn do quite well from what i hear... as do the spinners. so far this year I've fished for quite a few hours in the last month or two and tend to see fish most times im down...even when the rivers low.... but nae luck mind you i've had a few fish fish splashing round my flies which makes it all the worse! But thanks to a man who's taught me all i know (his name needs no mention! ;D)) Its just a matter of time!!! well here's hoping anyway! So good luck if you make it up... day tickets are Monday to Thursday only i think? but at £20 its well worth a pop! all the best! John.

John, Thank you for your advice and I hope you get a salmon soon. I rang Kate Fleming's shop in Blairgowrie since posting and they too gave me some good advice. It seems The Ericht gets a very good run of fish but you need water. I'll try and get up there for a couple of days later this year. Good luck.
Danny
