Look on the bright side JAD - you'll be so shocked when you do get a take that you'll forget to strike, which is the right thing to do! ;D

Had my first 3 day fix the other week no fish though. Islabank was like a canal (in fact there was more current going up stream when the wind blew)!!! So we changed rivers and had 2 days on the South Esk (beautiful little river) Lost 2 fish, 1 took as I was retrieving on the dangle the other took as I pulled the fly out to back cast ( un bl#*dy lucky I say). Why do they always do that

By the way we always reckon that the best looking and hardest fighting Wye salmon are the 2SW May fish, ideally in the 14 - 16lb class, so you cracked it there.

7 and a half days fishing, 2 pulls, a kelt, thousands of miles driving, gallons of lager, yards of mono, 3 fall ins, no changes of clothes.
Can't beat it!!

Three days fishing, two fish, one missed pull and a grurt big boil at the fly, definitely right place/right time.Just think of it this way every trip out, every next cast that fish is hurtling at you quicker and quicker.Just keep casting long and straight (important bit that ) 45 degrees ish. with a fly somewhere near the right size, don't mend unless you have to,start 1/2 hr before light and finish 1hr after dark, never give up keep going,if you arnt happy with how you have fished a bit of water then get back in and fish again until you are, but the most important bit is enjoy it and relax because when you do you will forget all the above tripe and just catch a fish, honest its that easy! Pedro.

Took me over a week to break my duck this year. Was getting v.cold and disheartened. During the next week's worth of fishing (which included 2 trips) had 3 springers and another pull. So I'm sure you'll get one soon. I find that when I'm really p***ed off and feeling like giving up but persevere is when I'm most likely to catch a fish, so stick at it. As everyone says, salmon fishing seems to be all about right time right place, so if you're they're for long enough, suddenly your fly will pass a salmon in a taking mood and bang -you're in.
Tight lines.
