Fresh fish were caught in the Ribchester area and some were carrying sea lice so I would have thought that you would have seen some at sale wheel. I was fishing in the Clitheroe area and fish were still moving through the pools. Fish are well spread throughout the system and most of the usual spots seem to be holding fish. I am not fishing over the weekend but will be out on the lower river on Monday and possibly Tuesday.

Well the big tides were with us this weekend, did anyone see any numbers of fish moving on the lower stretches??
I popped out for a couple of hrs on Sunday and managed a fresh 10lb hen but it was not carrying sea lice so had been in for 2 days or more. My mate also managed his first ever salmon a cock fish of about 7lbs. Will be out tomorrow to see if I can keep this catch rate up.

Only place you stand a chance of getting a day ticket is on the EA water at Mitton, You may be able to get the odd day on the Edisford Hall water just above Mitton and if you fancy a bit of camping then you can get a day ticket at the top of the river at Stainforth, cheep fishing but hardly classic fly water more worm drowning and cutlery chucking water.

hi Wilbert how are you getting on with the catching , fished last thursday no fish but my friend had a very thich short 14 lb, fished friday night and saturday night but nothing , missed sunday . are you fishing this week. i would have thought the ribchester are would be the best chance if at all at the moment . unfortunately LFFA has no real holding pools up river so even thoe their ate fish spread out im a bit stuck. still havent had a pull yet let alone a fish and seen very little signs of them all thoe they are their. good luck this week if you are out . i may give the floater a go with the small flies tomorrow but the river will be down to summer level by then if not already. can't wait for the next flood .!!! regards speers

Sedgeking, interested in the Ribble near Settle,do you have any more info.?Is it possible to turn up on the day and buy a ticket or is pre-booking the thing to do.Would imagine its low water at present but a day out is needed and geographically its the nearest Salmon fishing to me.Lots of questions in my head, does this water offer a chance or is it just a technical chance, enjoy having to work for a fish and like the challenge of new water.I am making the assumption any tickets are only available during "shop hours"is there any provision for people who are keen as me and cant stay in bed with even a slight chance of Salar?. Many thanks if you can hep out,Pedro.

Hi rennie ;D Re Settle AA day tickets There are two tickets available- guest and day Guest tickets are roaming tickets to fish all SAA water by ANY method. Day tickets again i think are roaming but limited to certain beats and are fly only but the water available IS fly water. Go to the butchers in town and ask as he used to issue tickets and is a club member (maybe still does and will be open earlier than electrical)-alternate yellow pages and ask over phone (sorry cant remember names etc) I always had a guest ticket as I fished with a member and it was pre booked apart from the once when we picked it up at dawn from the butchers. Info should still be good as was only talking to the bailiff a fortnight ago

For anyone that has any objections to the proposed Ribble barrage which would be disastrous for the whole river system and especially the salmon and sea trout fishing here are some details for a meeting being held. A Councilor in Preston is organizing a Public Meeting re River works, and obviously the barrage & building developments will be top of the agenda. It is booked for Tuesday 20th November 7pm-9 in Rooms A & B in Preston Town Hall. save-the-ribble.blogspot.com ribble-cycle-diaries.blogspot.comsavetheribble@tiscali.co.uk

Chris,
Wilbert has sent you a PM. I deleted the original message in the general board to avoid duplication.
Hope this has not offended you or Wilbert.
Cheers, Fruin

Fished all day today and saw plenty of fish moving but they were reluctant to take. The wind was hard at times and as ever the leaves were a bloody nuisance. To top it all off I left some gear at home and left the sun glasses in the car. I persevered and finished the day with a good brownie and 2 salmon of 4 and 15 lbs. Back to work tomorrow but will be out on Wednesday for the last day of the season.
