Update off the FFF site
Friend of mine had a 7lber on the Corwen stretch today, his first ever salmon, he had talked to people and they had said about another 4-5 coming off the water, one fella had 3, put 2 back, also a few sea trout as well.

There's a few fish coming off now...most of the ones I've heard of where from the Corwen area. And I lost one...last week...

Hi John
Good to hear from you again, I keep an eye on this thread as I really enjoyed my time on CADAC waters last year. It seems like a half decent start to the season so far (what with all this rain) and glad to see you connected with one (too bad it came off). At least you knew you were in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. Are you getting out much this season..?
I am enjoying it in Northumberland (still renting but just about to move out of my place in Cheshire) though yet to connect with a salar from the coquet or tyne (not from lack of trying!)
Keep at it, you'll get a couple this year from the Dee I am sure of it!

Hi JJ. Nice to hear from you again.
Yes I'm getting out quite often. The only problem is the weather..Rain and more rain to much of it mate...
Tight lines

Any recent news from the Dee? I am about to give it my annual ritual attempt at catching a salmon on Thursday/Friday in the Llangollen/Chirk area. Any positive news gratefully received.

Yes, i've fished the Dee on a couple of evenings recently, and haven't seen sight or sound of a salmon or sea trout. I reckon they've bombed up river on the high water.
Had a couple of nice 2lb+ grayling on my 14' Norway - it was like pulling in a big lump of weed!

Thanks for the info gents, its a good job I didn't read them before starting fishing yesterday, as I gave it 12 hours yesterday and 7 hours today, without even seeing a salmon! I caught a couple of nice sea trout just below the Ceiriog junction, and a couple of decent brownies. I also lost something a little larger, but I guess statistically it was another sea trout. Maybe I'll pop back in October?

I got one yesterday on the Corwen beat of about 10lb and I returned it because it was coloured. I caught it on a flying C. I Tried the double hander but found it was to risky for wading there were tree's and logs coming down river as it was rising

Caught my first Salmon on a fly to day and I'm chuffed... ;D
Quite a few fishermen where fishing the Corwen waters where I was fishing to day and most of them where using spinners. 2 fish that I know of where caught on spinners. I think mine was the only one caught on the fly on the beat I was fishing.

Well done JAD, let it be the first of many. No need for the spinning rod now might as well put it on ebay and buy a couple more lines with the proceeds.
