I had a 5 pound grilse last friday night off the River Wear while fishing for Seatrout. I was fishing a silver stoat cascade, the fish took as I was retrieving line, what a fight it put up, first salmon of this season aswell so i was well made up. ;D

I had tried to catch salmon running at night but it never worked. I tried small and large flies at different depths and speeds but nothing worked. As soon as the light came up I could catch them.

I know a few sea trout boys who catch quite a few salmon at night mainly on silver stoats.  Never heard them complain either  . Hornet |
