Hi all,
New to the boards although i have been lurking a week or 2. Great forum plenty of information on the fish & how to catch them.
Have the grilse started to appear in any numbers anywhere? I have a day off on friday and i would be keen to trip one up somewhere, I was thinking of the ericht with the water starting to tickle up again this week might be worth a go.

There are certainly grilse in the Ericht, the next lift in the water should see plenty of them coming up, there was fish running through Craighall yesterday. You really don't need a high water on the Ericht for the grilse to run, when they want to go,they go.

Thanks Kercock
Good to hear thats them started can be good fun on the ericht if you hit it right . I really hope theres a good grilse run this year they can be great fun on lighter tackle . Do you get a fair crack at them yourself ?i have not fished the middle tay at grilse time. The upper river used to be good but it seems to be a bit of a lottery these days.

We had four grilse this week all around the four pound mark and fish up tp nineteen pounds as well as several sea trout. I know at Kinnaird they have been getting grilse over the last three weeks or so.No info on other beats. The resident expert on the Ericht is kelliefly. johnmac is another,he works right by the river and can be relied on to tell you what you need to know about the hight and temp. And they are both good lads.. I don't get the chance to have a crack at the fishing, just too busy with guests and jobs to be done Im' afraid.
