Yes its a variant - uses purple wing and red rather than orange hackle and here's another - this one works on the Thurso

If you have the right ghillie and a bottle of Bushmills

yes a good local ghillie is essential and a bottle of Bush always helps ;D (I hear Moy ghillies can be good as well, along with some Glenmongie )

that's a great looking version of a cascade yes works well to, the dyed badger gives it quite a different look - and the fish seem to like it

Hi easky ,Nice fly Is that purple squirrel tail in the wing ?

Post by easky on Oct 31, 2006 17:12:56 GMT
yes exactly, purple squirel along with 4 strands of purple krystal hair (2 different lengths). Ross's Dad I know has had a lot of success with this variant, Ross will keep us right but I think his Dad devised it

only been tying salmon flys for couple of months but have a couple of crackers i would love to show and the hints and tips would be good! still getting my head round salmon patterns frustrating when you can win tying comps ect with size 18 dry flys but that size 8 cascade just doesn't look right. ;D
great idea if it gets off the ground
