Flies look great in the vice or between the fingers, but the most important test is chuck it in a basin of water and have a look. Templedog hair and similar materials are surprisingly longer when wet. I guess your second attempt will still be a touch too long (especially the yellow) although it looks much better.
Also note that Daz's fly is on a tube so he'll have the hook length/sleeve to add which will fit well with the length of his orange underwing.

Hi macd. This is just a pattern I have been messing around with,it has not yet had a swim so don't know if it will be successful or not,I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be?. A mate of mine (sewinangler) passed on the idea to me after he had been talking to a friend of his.He had stated how successful the Rapala FireTiger was at taking fish for him,and if we could come up with a fly based on the same theme,colour scheme.So thats how the one posted come about. easky. YES! it was attacked with the permanent mate DAZ.
