I've watched this post for a while now and it has kept me amused. However, it has also left me a bit disheartened that this sort of cowardly argument is happening on this forum. I would place a hefty bet on the fact, that nobody involved in the arguments, especially those posting the most aggressive comments, would be man enough to argue as such in a face to face situation. It's now gone beyond debate and is now getting personal. Is nobody man enough to just lay it to rest. All this hiding behind forum names and throwing childish insults at each other via a keyboard is exactly why I've never signed up to any other UK forum. It's no longer a debate about fishing, but just a tit for tat argument. If you wish to carry it on, I would hope that you would have the manners to exchange phone numbers/email addresses/personal adresses, and sort it out away from the rest of us.

Not only do I agree with Fruin's last post, but also your last one to a certain extent. Of course you had no idea that the initial topic listing would lead to such a heated discussion.
I joined this forum fairly early on as I felt it was a place where a person with modest experience could ask questions on some of the more fundamental topics of salmon fishing with the knowledge that the answers and comments would be informative and enjoyable to read. When sensible topics start to run into abusive retorts, then I wonder whether it's worth continuing to view. It would be easy just to "turn over to another channel", but that's not the point of this forum. This forum's introductory banner shows the way to "the friendly forum".
Furthermore, information in the public domain should be carefully posted, particularly as fishing as a whole has various bodies keen to put a halt on our sport: the more ammunition they have, however associated, the easier their cause.

hi salar 76,the beat you talk about on the dee will not be offering you a good price in feb because there is a chance of getting washed off, theyre offering you that price because theres less chance of catching a fish then.however if in feb you book, but the day you book is unfishable, and they give you the chance to book that day later in the year for free(say mid oct),then i think thats an outstanding way to treat your customers and they should be applauded for it. can you post the beat + details please. thanks, hadrian. Hadrian - Apologies for the late reply - just got back from fishing. much more fun than fishing vicariously via the internet! The beat that used to offer (and maybe still does) replacement fishing for being 'grued off' (not washed off) in feb is Kincardine and formerly Borrowstone (which is now in new hands, so don't know the score there now). That was certainly their policy, and to my knowledge that should still stand. Sure, not so many fish are caught in feb, but then most beats are far from fully booked in feb.

Springer,
I have always found your posts, and your manners on this forum to be excellent. I also understand the need to defend yourself publicly, especially when you have been insulted publicly.
It may be beneficial to ignore new members who come in all guns blazing.
I'm sorry if you thought my post was a direct attack on you; it certainly was not intended that way.

Look, argument is good- it keeps the forum healthy.
But when springer was called a'fool' things took a nosedive. It was out of line. Simple.
Things got so bad I even agreed with malcolm. Enoughs enough.

Hadrian (TONY RICHARDSON),
I've sent a reply to your comments via a personal message, as I don't think other forum members are involved or interested.
