Malcolm, How did you manage to keep wee Duffer still enough to take a photo. Graham look closely and you can see the nails through the paws.

Chaps, I'm feeling a tad saddened at the moment, with all these fishing dog pics, ... I had avitar Jack up on the river Earn with me on Saturday - short of it is ... he's been at the vet since Monday morning, on saline drip, and anibiotics ... He'll be staying there tonight - can't find the problem but he's not in a good way. I miss him. Cheers, Altmor

Will do guys - let you know when he's home. It's the first time in 11 yrs he's been away through ill health - I miss him. He will be home - and will be watching the river for me again. .... He is my boy ... born to be out on the field and river ... I miss him. "Get better Jack - I miss you"

Went to the vet tonight to see Jack - he's still not great and will be staying with the vet tonight. Told him he needs to hurry up and get better - we've got fish to catch, and can't contemplate fishing without him. I'm sure he'll make it to the river again.

Some canine news - Jack was collected from the vet's on Friday night, after being treated for Hemorrhagic Gastro Enteritis - still very listless and lethargic.
Vet had noted concern re his weight - he wasn't eating in the vet's "hotel", and had said he had to eat over the weekend, and to bring him back on Monday evening (today).
Over the weekend we cooked him a topside casserole (with carrots), toast, two fillet steaks (flambe'd in finest cognac), minute steaks and more toast as he turned his nose up at regular dog food. All this in between his dose of syrup (administered via syringe), gut protection pills and antibiotics, with an hour gap between each - in the run up to his feed time.
Took him back to the vet tonight - he's lost 1kg !!!!!
He is a lot, lot brighter than earlier in the week - but the vet stresses he must start putting on weight. So tonight it's haddock in breadcrumbs - (just to balance the diet), along with another antibiotic solution, that I'm told has the same effect as immodium !!!
I'll keep his bowl full and keep you all posted - at least he's home, but sorry for being a wee touch absent over the last few days - I'm running a private 5* vet clinic/hotel. You know, he had the cheek to ask me to nick out and bring in the papers on Sunday morning !!
Thanks for all the kind words guys.
Cheers,
Altmor.
