i had an interesting chat today, that could bring a little worry to some , on the cost of a weekends fishing in scotland, if scotland gets its independence, not only are they after the removal of the missiles, but she will have to survive on (partly )tourisim, as a means to support herself, down the road an introduction of a fishing licence for tourists (non resident)and not seasonal , 5-7 days, so every trip could require purchase, and a currancy change to euro, then again this is a policy that overseas countrys have in place, in alaska my season permit for salmon was $15 & $10 for a king salmon stamp, a 10 day visitor permit was $100 + stamp but then no charge for fishing the rivers.

I just wish that some of the RABID nationalists would wake up and smell the coffee. National pride's all very well , but........... Alex Salmond for president? Not while I've any breath left in these well kippered lungs. Regards. Brian the Jock. ps. Flak jacket and hard hat firmly in place.

akflyrod I assume from your words that you do not live in Scotland. If I am correct then let me assure you that if some of the politicians have their way we will all be coming to join you...... well that is all except that stalwart of all things Scottish without whom our great nation would have been stuck rudderless and wallowing all these years, Sean Connery who after half a century is planning to come home - how wonderful of him, he can pay the taxes then....

You must mean Sheen Canary , surely. The man's a bl**dy joke. The drivel he spouts makes my blood boil.

Mind you he rose inestimably in my books after I learned that he described His Graceness the Duke of Roxeburghe as "shutch a shite.."!

It was 50/50. Never been but will go. I have friends going out this year for Kings. I have a terror of biting insects though!
I will happily listen to all the advice you have on where to go and when.
