Splash - Howard Devoto ! - how can I possibly have forgotten Shot By Both Sides. Dont 'spose anybody 'out there' knows the work of Mr Peter Hamill of Van Der Graff generator fame ? The album Pawn Hearts ?........" yes my little BB swivel - here I come". Big PH fan Sinktip , the live double "The Margin" and "The Love Songs" Album do it for me as opposed to VDGG but then again he's released about 40 albums... And while we're at it what about Bill Nelson, Bob Fripp, Ultravox (the first 3 albums with John Foxx), Todd Rundgren and Tom Waits. Man what a decade....

Sinkingtip where are the wombles, smurfs and that fat woman who played the piano? PAT are you sure that she was not one of the "guests" at that fishing hut story you were telling the other day ;D

Sinkingtip where are the wombles, smurfs and that fat woman who played the piano? And CLaG where oh where is Tubular Bells? [/quote PAT - I believe from my contacts in the 'biz' that both the Smurfs and The Wombles now have the fishing rights on the Upper Sketewan water on the Tay. Might be worth giving them a bell for late availability. I assume by "the fat woman who played the piano" you refer to the hugely talented Hilda Woodward (Mrs) keyboard wizard with the performance art collective known as Lieutenant Pigeon who's line up also featured her axeman laddie Rob. LP, as we all know, had a No1 hit (with a bullet) for 4 weeks in October 1972 with the inspirational Mouldy Old Dough. Hope that answers your question - enjoy you fishing my guid freend.

Bob Fripp - 21st Century Schizoid Man - often have this track blaring out as I approach the river for a night time cast for the sea troots - I think they like it . Actually met TR backstage at the Playhouse in Leith Walk many moons ago - some boy but thats another story

Sinkingtip I knew you would know her name! Impressive if a bit scary!
Now I know I am wandering into dangerous territory here, what with people much more knowledgeable than I about, but was Badge not released in the late 60's - I still have the Album! (Goodbye)
And Goodbye it is for a few days as I'm aff fuishing.... so if I'm wrong I won't hear you telling me!
P.A.T.

PAT - Its a fair cop guvnor. October 1969 to be exact but whats a few months between decades ? Hope you had a good time.
Wullie - I made mention of the Who in th 60's thread but you are right - they should be there in the 70's also......and the 80's. Timeless stuff.
Boab Zimmerman - did a gig in Glesca last week and still going strong - or certainly a guy that looks like him is still going strong. Like A Rolling Stone would have to be in my top 10 of all time. Regards as always.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
Not sure about the Stones or Skynnrd remarks ClaG-perhaps a mid-May "play-off" above the snowline may settle this or a telly chucking contest from the upper levels of The Potarch may decide it.(Tip from Jack Nicholson-grow old gracefully and always try to spin your TV whilst tipping it from a penhouse suit balcony.)
As a bit of a musical trivialist myself it has always occurred to me as strange that as Wild Horses was written for Marianne Faithfull (after she' tried to do herself in whilst Mick was in Oz filming Ned Kelly/Keef was hanging out with the brilliant Gram Parsons), that it never became the backing music to advertise an astrologically-themed chocolate bar made in Slough? Also recorded in Nashville tuning for the real musos out there.
Note to self, must get out more.............!

Pretty much anything off Unknown Pleasures for '79.
'Ceremony'/'In a Lonely Place', written by Joy Division but recorded by New Order as their stately debut is the perfect bridge from the 70s to the 80s. But hey, that's another story, another decade.
