When i am going to a place with good access then its the lovely A4 Avant tdi fast smooth and everything fits. If it may be a little trickier with the access then its the Shogun Animal which will take me and 4 friends and all the gear wee bit noisy but it will go anywhere.

Back in the trusty Disco, 150602 miles when I changed the oil this evening, have tried a Lotus Elan+2 (bordering on practical) and Exige (not good off road, boils the driver and any catch, only passenger footwell available for tackle and waders, and now sold.....)

UPDATE Volvo T5 front bumpers no good when faced with old tree stumps on Upper Tay beats. You have been warned. Wish I had .

My fishing mate's frontera - gets around caithness for the Thurso with some adrenaline to keep us awake. Otherwise - yawn - Saab 9000 or Sportwagon if 4Wd not required.

Suzuki Vitara, solely used as a fishing/shooting car. Ideal for rough tracks etc although if the roads are too rough bits tend to fall off! Also got my own supply of deer hair stuck underneath, but that's another story.......

Normally a Skoda Octavia 2L Estate, W reg 62k. All the bells and whistles Interior space comparable to a hearse and pulls loads without noticing. Great for fitting in the rods already set up, which is great on spate rivers to catch the magic moments or if you can only fit in an hour or two in the day. Currently in the menders having been rear-ended by a BMW X5. X5 written off, Skoda needs a new back door, tow bar and one light got chipped. His no-claims not mine Been driving a VW Passat estate as a replacement, it's a pig to drive, crap clutch, push button handbrake, and no feel from the road at all. I won't be getting one of them if I ever replace the Skoda.

Had to laugh .... most of the cars/trucks mentioned above didn't register at all. (Volvo I got). Mine? Jeep Liberty 4x4 if any 'off road' work is required (frequently) or the Toyota Highlander of Joan's. Although she would STRONGLY prefer I didn't take the dog(s) in her car. Wonder why?

Mine's a modest Suzuki Ignis, quite a handy little car for reasonable tracks and permanent 4wd into the bargain. Previous transport was a 1977 MGB GT which was used all the time, daily driver, went fishing went shooting went camping. Surprising room in that little car camping gear for two, all herselfs wardrobe and one set of fishing gear including chest waders. It was noisy and hard on the suspension, but had for me an ideal straight legged driving position, precise steering and that fantastic overtaking device the overdrive switch. Ala it cost a fortune to maintain. Classic cars are really a hobby on their own and not a means of transport to the riverside or shooting field. Regds Tweedsider
