I have just done as above mentioned, and for this I got a kelt and a finnock!! Ive heard of three spey springers, on at kinermony, one at knockando and the other on tulchan D beat. It is encouraging to see these fish so up, even though there is a lack of water! I'm just hoping that we get wee bit of rain soon, so that a clean one is waiting at Grantown with my name on it on monday A.M!!

Blair Close but no cigar, the fish was caught at Easter Elchies rather than Wester Elchies.

Aye you are letting things slip Malcolm.
The Keeper on Easter Elchies is a new hand at being a keeper and broke his ankle a few weeks ago- so he was not fully fit.

Frank, you are worse than Blair, that was the Kinneromy keeper that broke his ankle I am lead to believe.

Has any one tried the Fochabers Association Water? I am up again at the end of March and have an urge to fling the feather but I guess I need to find some Lower Spey day ticket water to do such a thing..
Any advice gratefully appreciated - JJ

I've never fished the Fochabers water but a friend fishes it every year and always gets fish. I had a look at it one day, like most of the Spey, it looks a nice bit of water.
As a lower beat, it will fish better in low water conditions.
I'm sure a local rod will post a more accurate and detailed thread.

Just seen on the fish spey site that the Grantown Association water has had its first fish. Quite surprised to see a fish being caught that far up this early as there won't be many rods out but still there must be a few out and about plus the odd fish too.

Thanks for the advice on Fochabers - I thought I might try it for a change from Aberlour or Grantown, as you say particularly in low water.
I am going to give it some recce on 26 March for a later trip in July..
many thanks - JJ

Yes, the Lurg is a lovely pool. Only problem is that is is very popular, for obvious reasons. sorry the photo is so wide, it's a panoramic view off the SAIA web site.
