Caught harling as far as I'm aware. 2 on a Rapala and one on something like a Kynoch.

You are right Donnie - all fish taken from the boat. The 'rap' was a 'dayglo' pink job and accounted for one of the fish I believe. The other two were on kynochs of some description. All 3 were returned. Apparently they 'lost' another couple on the same day. Things should start to pick up for this beat soon I reckon as it should on most beats now that we are firmly into March month.

Just booked up up for the 2nd Saturday in June. First visit to the Tay, can't wait. Anyway, any thoughts regarding fly selection for the river other than Ally's and cascade?
Cheers

Hi Granters. Absolutely nothing wrong with Ally's or Cascades in their many forms. However, if the water is low, clear and 'warm' I would have a couple of humble Silver Stoats Tails in your box but it really is down to confidence. A fresh fish IMO will have a go at anything - as long as it it presented properly. I am sure Stan will bung you a couple of 'killer' fleas should your own selection be wanting - but I am sure that wont be the case. Some lovely fly water on this beat, especially the Island, Dowally Stream and Guay. You will be taken care of - fear not. Regards STip

Thanks for the tips chaps. Have a box full of stoats tails, still can't work out why they're so effective you know! Heard a lot about Stan and look forward to meeting him. Will let you know how i get on. Think I'll have every conceivable fly out there with the amount of tying I'm doing these days. Anyway, look out Tay!!

I have some very happy memories of times spent with Stan on Dalguise. Get your timing right with the fish runs and weather, and the fishing can be great . Don't be put off by low water conditions, first ever visit in really low water I was lucky enough to take a 23lber on a baking hot day. What I particularly like about Dalguise (apart from the crack) is the fact that whatever the height there is always a spot worth fishing. Hope you enjoy it and please pass on my regards to the sax man.

Fished there earlier this year - Stan is a great host along with carer Ken his side kick. Remember and pack a bottle of Macallans.
