The first fly was cast at 8.30am after i had laced the water with a single malt and a sherbet lemon ;D plus a couple for me! Water was up from yesterday at 2ft 8/9inches from 2ft the previous day but it was falling and was pretty much clear. The high water made it hard going with the fly and the roaring wind made it even worse. Grant and Keith aka Kellyfly and crawfish appeared about 11.30 (lazy swines!! ) and then the three amigo's went to work, joined by Milos the plumber! nowt doing after a few hours and a dash of Jack Daniels to the river gods by crawfish failed to send a fish our way, or make the wind drop...... maybe coke and ice might have helped? Milos, Keith and Grant went "upstream" for the last couple of hours, whilst i fished closer to home to save my weary legs, but i did annoy a kelt which jumped again and again to tell me to bugger off! Highlight of the day had to be watching Milos catch his Mikael Frodin turbo disk on a tree on the far bank on his third cast..... having just bought it on Friday for £10!!!!! Tuesday looks like a good prospect as long as there is no more rain? good luck Crawfish! Grant hard at work and again! Milos

That's what it's all about - a bit of fun; good to see the smiles. Mind you - losing flies at a tenner a pop, I'd be in tears

Fruin - I use those radioactive nightlites on some of my sea trout flies. At almost £1.50 each, it's always a sickener when you lose one in the bushes at night.

Tell Milos, I'll rattle him up a couple of spring waddies - at a fiver a pop - would save him a bit of dosh an who knows might even catch him something other than branches.
Well done lads, a relief to hear some hardy souls were out today. The season is officially open !!

in the words of the man himself "OKAY COKEY!" It was a good day out! I enjoyed myself, and picked up a few tips along the way. If only it had have been a bit calmer and a foot lower..... then i'd have had my springer for sure! ;D

was out today...river at 6inches..... terrible upstream wind made casting a nightmare in most of the pools...didn't see anything but did manage to hook the bottom a few times which made the heart jump!
No fish reported as of yet.... hopefully any snow melt over the next week and some milder weather will see the first Springer caught...maybe even by me??!!??

Correct, the wind was rotten today - wasn't out fishing, but, cut the dog walk short for fear of being blown off the hill. Any other hardy souls out (fishing) today ?
