We seem to have a bit of interest in the prospect of a day or two on this Upper Tweed beat, so I thought I would start a thread. I have had a response from the contact on the fishtweed site, who suggests that 6 rods would be comfortably fitted should water levels be good, but if at summer level only 1 or 2! November should be OK (shouldn't it?) so can I suggest we limit the numbers to 6 rods per day. With regards to catch returns he was not forthcoming, but said that the club who fished it never declared their catches to him (maybe they wanted to keep the good news to themselves? Anyway make of it what you will). Holylee is next beat down and they have only one bank, so I guess you can judge some of the potential from that. Dates. My preference would be for November 9th and 10th, a friday and saturday, currently available. Who's in. So far: Donnie W Splash ACW Sagefly Madkeen x2 Rob Mason x2 G Ritchie Salmonking Salmondan If anyone else is interested please post here. Only catch is that I will be away on Speyside from this thursday until monday 23rd April. Can we get it sorted before I go? I am happy to pay fishtweed. I trust you guys Should mention cost. 6 rods per day would work out at just over £40 per rod per day. Not bad.

I'm in if you have a rod left. Either day is OK by me. Mrs Dan say "Yes" Well, what she actually said was "When are you going to find time to..." then I kind of drifted off into a little fuzzy world of fishy thoughts and Chateauneuf du Pape, so I just presumed that it finished with a yes .

11 names so far
Just checked fishtweed and there is very little else advertised at present, or maybe it has all gone- I will check. If people want to fish more than one day we will need to take lower caberston for 3 days or find another beat.

OK team these are (to coin a recent forum phrase), the crews: Friday: Salmonking (paid) Donnie W (paid) Salmondan (paid) ACW (paid) Sagefly (paid) cocktail Cabinet (paid) Saturday: G Ritchie (paid) Madkeen1 (paid) Madkeen2 (paid) RobMason (paid) Macsalmo (paid) Splash (paid) These are provisional and there is scope to change days if you are not happy. If anyone wishes to drop out say so soon as one or two would like to fish 2 days. Feel free to extend into Thursday if you wish. I will PM all the above with contact details so that you can send the dosh so that I can pay my credit card off (2% surcharge!!) I'm up on Speyside, or at least starting the journey tomorrow and will be away from the PC until sunday 22nd. Only 7 months to go........

Just by way of information,Lower Caberston is opposite Juniper bank,Holylee below it is both banks,Juniper Bank is a high water beat it runs out of places to fish in low water, also the river here is quite narrow good conduct by both banks would help.Juniper has produced some good fish in the past its well fished now but that wasn't the case in the past.Whats now Lower Caberston is/was heavily overgrown and in the years I have fished Holylee have never seen any one on it.I will be on Holylee the week before you all give me a nod if you want up to date info.Good luck, with those crews you should get amongst some fish. Pedro.

Rennie - I'm confused! (happens a lot these days). I understand from your post that Caberston is opposite Juniper Bank but the info. on fishtweed says it is 1250 yards BOTH banks.

Eh up donnieW it could be thats now the case, that could also explain why we see no one one the left bank that one will be hard to fish /wade unless that problem has now been addressed. My pal used to fish juniper bank and did well I know it produced some very big fish not too long ago when it was let as juniper bank through the farm/Traquair Arms.Would also imagine there will be more bodies per day on it now but there again thats to be expected in this day/age. Pedro. P.S With regard to catches and club I believe this used to be part of the Walkerburn Association water before it was known as juniper bank(not 100% about that tho.) which tells a story either way catch records will be hazy. When the beat was Juniper Bank it was quite a well kept secret, cheap worth some fish and underfished.

Where the beat butts up to Holylee its about 30yds wide, just a nice steady chuck, its not really a wide river when you get up in these upper beats and is easily covered. Pedro.
