If you can only fish with one fly for the entire season what would it be?
I think I would go for Allys Shrimp or a Willie Gun.

fishingd0 -Thats a brilliant looking fly - might add this to my list of flies to buy for the season. Is it possible to buy these ready tied anywhere - I've never seen them advertised

You can't get them in the shops. It is a fairly new design and not caught on yet.
I would be willing to tie some up if you like? £2 per fly.

What do you reckon would be the best time/conditions to use them. I want to try them out on both the Teith and Tweed. I must admit they look great to me (hope the fish feel the same!)

Sorry have been away, Gordan that looks like a great fly. Similar to the cascade but with the added purple. When you have time can you tie me a couple? Topsy

Just give me a PM of how many you would like and I will get to it. I tie them on both the Gold and Silver salar hooks.
Munro
You can use them at any time. You will just have to vary the size of the fly and depth that they are fished at, depending on the conditions. The fly was designed John Sinclair of Inverness two or three years ago for Ness Castle fishing on the river Ness. Out of the 300 or so fish we had this year on the beat, around 90% were on the nessc, with it's best day taking nearly 20 fish. It is fair to say that if all you are fishing is the nessc, you are not going to catch on other flies, but the fly sure has proven it's worth!

Nice fly fishingdo We on the Tyne thought the spelling was 'Nessie' but having never seen it written it is good to see the correct spelling plus a bit of it's history. The fly has been very successful on the Tyne in the Hexham area this past 2 years and the Spey last June, in all forms doubles, trebles, cone heads, bottle tubes, waddingtons etc. Who knows it may even rival the Willie Gunn one day!

Tynespeycaster,
Good to see another Tyne salmon angler on here. Where abouts in the Hexham area do you fish ?

Gordon - thats really pretty impressive . Since the fly has been successful as far down as the Tyne it should hopefully work just as well in Central and the Borders. I'll certainly be giving it a darned good try in the next few months! salmonfly - the "slaggers" are well on their way to ruining another fly fishing forum (if they haven't already done so already) . Hope you make it plain that they are not welcome here.
