..............................talking about pools full of springers on the Tyne has increased the cabin fever so Steve and I have booked a day on the Rutherford beat of the Tweed this Saturday. ;D
It's a long drive from N Wales for a day's fishing, but the river is at a perfect level, the forecast is sunny, so how could Steve resist my tempting offer!!
Anybody fished Rutherford before?
Anybody else venturing out to the Tweed this week?

Elwyman, you won't find a pool FULL of springers at Ruterford on Saturday, but, this is the best theoretical set of early conditions you could have hoped for in looking for a fish above Kelso. Many recent days have been around the supposedly magical 39 fahrenheit temperature that traditionally discourage fish from taking the (small)caulds around this town. Early (Feb) Tweed fish are most reluctant to even pause beneath Coldstream, which I have never quite understood, as its a good 12 miles from the sea. But in a warmish early time, such as this, they go right through to the Middle River. So, there will most probably be a springer or two there! Good luck. Give us a match report!

Stoater - the sight of just 1 or 2 springers will be enough - we don't see any in N Wales until around May.
