ok guys i need to take 2 days off work before 1st of April. i grudge paying £50+ for spring fishing. looking for a chance of a salmon or even seeing a few. looking at it Tay is looking grim due to low catches Tweed to expensive if i want a decent chance Ericht was my plan but on reports not many fish around earn have had a couple but think spinning would be my only hope and want to fish fly. Spey/Dee not on my wages any suggestions?

Try the Don,
Anywhere between Parkhill and Kemnay will offer a decent chance from middle of this month onwards, especially after the high water we've been getting recently.
Have a look at the fishdon website, Fetternear is just downstream of the bridge at Kemnay.

The Don would be worth a chuck, as SAY mentions the ADAA waters I'd echo that they represent very good value and so do the council waters. There are plenty of fish up beyond Kemnay so an 'assault' in that area would be worthwhile. Two websites worthy of a visit if you fancy the Don: www.fishingthefly.co.uk/ and www.adaa.org.uk/

The Tay should really start to pick up once we loose the Atlantic weather patterns and the river eventually settles down.
I would not write off that option.

Stick with your original plan the Ericht, Isla was huge on Monday so fish were pushing up the Ericht which was in great nick, Had an 8 then a 12 pounder both on a conehead tube.

Give Frank a shout at Turriff Tackle, plenty of good fishing on the Deveron then and at a very reasonable price

You've done well 'doubled hooked', 2 fish from the Ericht in a day, this year, is outstanding!!
Do you know which West haugh pools you got them on? Were you left or right bank? Regardless, outstanding fishing.

Salmoscotty, I've heard that there getting decent catches from both the Esks; if you can travel a bit further northeast I'd suggest either of them may be worth a go with both at realistic prices. Also they need water and at the moment they've got it (with nice warm temperatures). I'd put my money on either of them - maybe see you (I'm off too)! Tightlines.

Scotty, with all this water i would head for the north rather than the south esk, canterland, gallery, pert & stracathro beats should all fish well at end of march.

Fished the Ericht today, the water was peachy but sadly never saw or touched a thing - surely it can only get better Should definately be worth a chuck by the end of March
