Well if Pink Floyd were right on this one, you can be. Looking down to the 'Abyss' (you'll not fish anything quite like this again) at the bottom of the River Lochy Falls on Beat 3
Or this could be your lunchtime view if you are at the hut on Beat 2
More importantly you could be doing this:
Although if you are unlucky you will have only caught a sea liced 12lber like so:
Mind you, if you clean your teeth twice a day your goodness should be rewarded with something like this (22lbs sealiced)
But what you are really going for is one of these - 27lbs sea liced (they had a 40lber and several over 30lbs last spring)
CLaG: - Hey, Dr Philgood what ya catch that whale on?
Dr Philgood: - Got it on milk an' alcohol
CLaG: - Thought so
These photos were taken in early July last year. The week we are on this year is the back end of the spring run. So bumper numbers of fish? Perhaps not, fish of your dreams well possible. The Lochy seems to have found the run of 2SW and 3SW springers that lost their way to the Wye. You will be fuishin' one of the Private Beats. Sorry I don't know which yet, but they all have something unique to offer. So if you want to say you have fished a genuine dead man's shoes river, plus:
1) You don't need to dress like an extra from Brideshead Revisited to cast a flee with this crowd, but if you really must no problem
2) You won't have to put up with das CLaG cos' it's my rod and I can't make it that day. Going are Splash, NigelB (see Stobhalski report) and Dr Philgood
3) You will have the opportunity to fish with one of the most naturally gifted and brilliant salmon fishers of his generation (and for that alone you should grab this).
Now, how many guineas will such an opportunity to catch Nordic sized salmon without having to cover yer' sel in disinfectant powder for a week afterwards would be? Well not as many as yoose think. £85 (quite a reasonable reduction on RRP, the price of one beer in Oslo or a patch of templedog hair at the WAC) and the job's a goodun. PM me if you are interested - I may not be able to make the Friday either - work - b.o. f'in'.a
If you need to stay the night before or after in the cottage you are also welcome to have my place on me.
Later fuishiers
