Welcome Peter, where do you fish? Hi Rob, I do a little fishing on the Tay in the early part of the year then fish locally on the Stinchar once we get water. We have a short season but catch more fish than the prime beats on the Tay. I also sometimes ventire the the Hoddom Beat on the Annan but that can be a little busy at times if it is a spinning water. My best fish on the fly is 28lb from the Newbie beat on the Annan back mid 80's with my best on a shrimp was 33lb from Stenton on the Tay late 80's.

Welcome aboard. The Stinchar is a lovely looking water. I've only fished it once for half a week at Dalreoch, but it was in low water A word of warning, ignore the madmen in the forum lounge, don't get dragged into anything containing the words "movie" or "song", you'll need counselling to break the habit

Dalreoch is a cracking beat. I take it by your name "Fruin" you fish in and around Loch Lommond. I used to fish the Leven when I lived in Lenzie and would often come down for a night shift for the Sea Trout. Later in the year I would move up to the Endrick once the fish had moved out of the loch. I never caught anything of note but fishing at night is always exciting.

Peter,
I live in Milngavie, and originate from Balloch, so the Lomond system has always been my local water.
How's the Stinchar fishing these days?

The Stinchar has had a couple of fish of it this year - the season doesn't really really get under way until mid-June onwards. Around the Glasgow fair, with rain, the Stinchar as other Ayrshire rivers start to do well.
