Should be Barbel fishing monday,no Salar planned for weeks,BUT its going to pee down in the Peoples Republic for the next few days and this leaves questions to be asked:1.Yorkshire Esk,is it worth it yet or at all(can pee across most of it and from what info. I have gleaned its poached to death) 2. E.A water at Halton fished it once not impressed but was I wrong? is it just too early yet? Is a slim chance better than none or than hoofing it off to the battle cruiser,Allways got the Nidd to fall back to. Pedro.

See,didn't I say it would rain in Yorkshire. Not only can I pee across the Esk but I can pee into it from my front door(nearly),unless we get a series of heavy frosts the Nidd is off the menu Monday its currently under a severe flood warning,as is the Ouse and Ure and Swale. The local Calder and Aire rivers are past worrying about unless you live close in which case tonights bath water will be cold and muddy. As I type this there is enough water coming down the street to hold up a wet 2 and 2"copper tube, wonder what its like to play a fresh run bus-catch and release of course, yet still the rain falls like stair rods.Oh well might go practice my casting coz there wont be any river fishing until I am back at work.Yours rusty round the edges and suffering from crutch rot, Pedro.

Just to let you know if you stand too close to the Esk at the moment and have a pee, you may not be there when you finish. It has risen approx 4ft to mid afternoon and still a chance that it is still rising. The net men are catching fish which is very encouraging, but also very annoying. There have been reports of poachers on the lower stretches of the river, but can you tell me of which river in the UK is not poached. Then really I should not encourage you to fish the Esk as it gives me more chance of a fish.
