Very last minute, but I'm goinig up to the Dee this week, and one of the rods has never fished a double hander before or fished for salmon. He was due to get some casting instruction before going up, but for one reason or another wasn't able to.
If anyone knows of someone in the area that is able to come down for a few hours or the day, please either reply to this or PM me urgently!!
many thanks
Lawrence

Which beat are you on? Might be best to check with the ghillie first. Most are happy to help with instruction and are very good. (If you do find a good one and he helps with casting instruction, its a good idea to remember this come tipping time).
Also, a number of ghillies I know would be a bit miffed if you turn up on the day with a casting instructor in tow if you hadn't ok'd it first.
Good luck and tight lines!
Sam

Lawrence, if you are fishing inchmarlo MIke the ghillie is pretty good and more importantly keen on instruction.
Willie Gunn may be worth a call, but otherwise contact the beat ghille to suggest or arrange something for your mate.

Aye - Mike performed minor miracles with my casting... it's still ugly but is atleast getting the line out well even with V fast sink tip and tube flies...

Thanks for the replies guys - we didn't manage any 'proper' instruction, but got by just fine Just got back, and as anyone who has been watching weather forecasts would expect, we had a hell of a lot of snow most days and seriously cold nights. As such there was a lot of grue about and fishing couldn't start until 2pm or so each day. The upside was that the scenary was spectacular and the calm sunny afternoons were a real pleasure to be out in, even though with a low river with a water temp hovering around 32f chances were slim! Back again in a couple of weeks, so with luck we'll have a good stock of snow left in the hills to keep the river at a good height and get those fish moving!

Jesus Graham how can you tell from that pic??? You must spend lots of time on the river bank. I fished Middle Blackhall last year with Lawrence and I know thats where he was last week but I would not have guessed from the photo alone.

That's right Graham!
Stunning place to be - it really didn't seem to matter that the fish weren't in the mood, it was just great to be there.
