Splash
great post-keep posting the photos over and thanks for the call yesterday as we were about to commence battle at UH.
Its entirely relevent to have a bit of gossip from across the pond as to how regular Forum members are getting on on their hols with other non-salmonids if only as it provides relief from the holier than thou attitudes that have ste in and if the freindly, helpful and interested spirit of the Forum is as alive as it should be no-one should be too huffed if a regular poster essays in with a gentle "What I did on my Holidays"....................
Touch of the green-eye methinks in certain quarters.

Ethics you say............isn't that somewhere you go to from Liverpool St station? Now look what you've done!! That should be in the jokes/lounge section. As I've just appointed myself acting chief deputy assistant emperor, I've decided you should be buggered, flogged and shot at dawn. ps - I also noticed that you mentioned salmon fishing earlier in the same thread. What has this got to do with Splash on holiday?? Get a grip, man!

As I went to a good school I'll be greased up and ready Master, just like the old days.
Do you want me to call me Auntie or Adolf this time and can it be the English 16 bore sidelock for the shooting as its ballistics are superior and the Baikal is rather rough.
Also-do I have to leave a tip?
Huzzah.

Dear splash, Thank you for your postcard, you certainly look to be enjoying ;Dyourself in the heat of the noon day sun Having noticed on this thread that various punishments have been put forward in the backlash of the critisisims of some ie salmon or no salmon. You reall must forgive donnieW and understand that he lives in darkest Strathtay where his mode of punishment is considered to be normality . Suffice to say that salmon and Tuna do stand alongside each other , well the certainly do on the shelves in TESCO ;D

I apologise unreservedly for stoking the debate and thereby causing members to think of buttock tingling abuse. Ye gods, one mention of a grayling and a crap joke and I'm to be rodgered at dawn. Now, where did I leave that extra large cork bung ?.......

Over the last 30 years myself and others have tried many of those salt water and fresh water shrimp/bait fish patterns. While some won't fish properly in a river current, the main problem I found was with realistic imitations and these didn't impress even the fresh fish. As we are talking about predatory fish it is hardly surprising that fast moving flies with flash and illusion worked with fresh fish in coloured water, even when fished in different ways, but overall were not as good as my other patterns. Many of the sea flies are more like spinners, like some of the "salmon flies" around today, and it is up to the ethics of the fly fisherman as to whether he/she chooses to go down that route. The tuna are actually feeding on peanut bunker (juvenile menhaden) and sandeels and the fly of choice is a smal polar fibre minnow in the 2 inch class colour to match the bait of choice. its very much "match the hatch" and as usual your blunderbuss approach is way of the mark. if you actually did any salt water flyfishing you would realise that that imitating the bait is almost always the key to success and all that crap about looking like spinners and ethics is precisely that - crap. As I've said before poorly researched..... PS got some nice fish to just under 100lb yesterday including my sons first ever which I will post when I get my PC fired up cheers Splash

Good man Splash, let's see some more pictures. Please make sure they have you in non-traditional fishing attire, even cooler shades and holding something that looks like the Creature From The Deep.

Dear Splash
While part of an old posting appeared at the top of your posting, since my name isn't mentioned in your actual remarks, and my posting is about salmon fishing while yours is about sea fishing, I have to conclude it isn't relevant to me.
I am amazed anyone would think ethics and spinners are crap, I note your repeated use of the word "crap" rather than engage in constructive dialog. If you read and learned the information available on salmon fishing you would undoubtedly increase your knowledge exponentially.

Wouldn't worry yourself there RPS on the reading and learning front-after a glance at the last RPS "Approved Reading List" for Dark Ages salmon fishers I think Splash would be better off with Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.............!
