you never know from year to year - most seasons i get one or two from a week or so salmon fishing - 2004 i never had a touch from probably ten days fishing - 2005 i managed 1 springer 3 salmon and 2 kelts from 7 days - quite respectable compared to my usual performance.

G Ritchie and Willie Gunn are catching more fish to their own rods than some of the Westcountry rivers produce in total My own average varies between one every four days to nearly one a day in good years. My worst season so far gave one fish and the best twenty ;D I imagine some of you Scottish anglers wouldn't get out of bed for the fishing in the Westcountry! Tight lines (occasionally) Andy

Catch 149 salmon, 21 sea trout, 4 finnock, 63 salmon kelts, 1 sea trout kelt and a few hundred trout.
Graham, did the catch of salmon include the research fishing on the Spey or was this the 'in seasons' catch?

I fished for 9 days in February and only managed to land 1 clean Salmon about 7lbs plus about 12 kelts. Nowhere near Grahams average.
I hope to make amends next month I’ve got another 5 days booked and hope to pick up another couple here and there.

86 clean salmon + 12 seatrout in 89 mainly full days but incl. some part days for 2005 season. I caught them over a spread of 13 rivers incl. 4 "new" rivers for me, Doon in Ayrshire, Gress River in Lewis and the Alta in Norway. Also got my first English salmon, a 16pdr from the Derwent in Cumbria. Bulk of catch taken from Dee, Tummel, Helmsdale and Tweed and others from the Spey, Tay, Beauly, Earn and Annan. Good season for me.

Just started salmon fishing last season and after struggling to get a pull all summer finally hit form at the end of the year..a fish in each of my last two visits and two (kelts) on my first day of this season (despite having to break thick ice on the pool). Last summer had a rare foray for seatrout which resulted in three.
Had a day on the Tay at the start of this month but despite perfect spring conditions not a thing....I blame it on misplacing my lucky bunnet?!?

Last year total: 18 salmon landed and 14 lost excluding pulls and on for a few seconds stuff. From 25 days fishing.
This doesn't look so good if you take my week in Russia out of the equation.
England( Tyne) 4 fish from nine days fishing, plus four more lost
Russia- ( kharlovka/ Litza) 11 landed and 9 lost from seven days fishing
Soctland ( Spey/ Tweed) 3 landed and two lost from seven days fishing.
No sea trout despite my efforts. Again, being in the South of England means that all fishing is pre-booked or scheduled and I am unable to take advantage of good conditions. It isn't that i stink as a fly fisherman- honest!
