Its known only as a trout river and the odd sea trout now and again.For those of you that have fished the river,the next comment Im about to say you will think that Im insane.About 2 years ago me and my dad were fishing at the big waterfall in Clonskeagh for trout.I was fishing right at the side of the waterfall,my dad was downstream about 20 metres down.I was fishing away anyway and all of a sudden a salmon of about 10lb attempted to jump the fall,RIGHT BESIDE ME.I couldnt believe it-A salmon in the river Dodder?!?!Anyway I went down and told my dad,he didnt believe me.So I brought him up.We stood there for about 2 hours watching numerous amounts of salmon trying to jump the fall.It was amazing.We reckoned there was between 5-10 salmon in the pool at that time.For those of you that have fished it you probably wont beliece me but anyway check it out yourself anytime after July-Thats when we think they start running the river.Also last september(2005)I hooked and lost a salmon in that pool......
