I will manage to help you out if you book and pay for a week, try for the 2nd week of April. Another week would suit me better, I'm on Carron that week.

Life is short.....my philosophy is fish like the wind while you can. I just got back last Saturday from 2 weeks in the Seychelles fishing remote attols for Giant Trevally and bonefish. I thought salmon could pull till i went on this trip. I bust a 12 weight flyrod and lost 2 flylines on monster GT's. Also burned out the drag on a new flyreel on bonefish in less than a week !! Salmon will always be my first love though. Awesome - out of interest, what was the reel that you burned out? I deliberately did not mention the maker but it was a well known English make. Not one of their top notch models but at £150 I expected it to last longer than a week. Let me tell you what did work ..... my Danielsson HD11-14 never faltered in the face of severe aggression. My Snowbee XS11/12 also worked well.

Fantastic Jim...you certainly get around. Was reading a season summary for Doonfoot Fishings on the River Doon (my local river, until I moved to France) and yer name popped up in there!!! You must have been anointed to catch a fish on the Doon this year )-: Would love a go at the salt water flyfishing. sounds great. I was anointed. 4 fish off the Doon in 3 half day visits. The last one, a 10 pounder on 5th Sept. gave me particular pleasure. I arrived late at 11am and fished down Mount Charles Pool with the fly behind David Cosh , the owner who had already been down the pool with both fly and rapala. Landed the fish at 11.30am on a small Ally Dog Conehead. Storlaks, if you ever get the chance try these GT's....they sure do pull the string even with the big Danielsson at full tension.

I could be tempted. It is a great beat with great fishing. You would be a fool not to take a week there, burst open the biscuit tin and go for it. Lower Crathes is the most productive beat Per Rod than any other beat on the whole Dee system, and is probably the most prolific Spring fishery in the world, thats why the Scandinavians love it.I will manage to help you out if you book and pay for a week, try for the 2nd week of April. Sorry James I'll be fishing Invery 2nd week of April. I have been offered the 3rd week of April on Lower Crathes but only 1 rod I'm afraid. I have accepted a half week in March instead(fishing Invery the other half of that week). The Stats show March to be the surer month down there. Sorry boys, again only one rod. If I break a leg I'll give you a call.

Nice one Malcolm ;D but remember I am a Weegie. But Mrs Jimthefish keeps you right, she comes from north of Grantown. You loose your weegieness by marriage. You are almost house trained
