Fished it this year in the 3rd week of June as a guest for 3 days after some rain. It has some good casts. I had 2 good salmon and a heap of good seatrout. It has some really good seatrout fishing at that time of year as they hang about the mouth of the Feugh. Also an excellent beat for grilse in June/July. As you would expect, it is very hard to get a rod in these months as they are taken up by regular tenants. The pool in front of Banchory Lodge where the Feugh joins is a peach with a classic tail- out. My abiding memory of these 3 days was seeing a classic head and tail to my dropper there followed by a vicious run up the far side which drowned my line with the fish ending proceedings with several glorious cartwheels which smashed my line like cotton. It was a fresh fish well in the teens. These are the ones you remember ! The only downside to the beat would be in low water where it would become a bit crowded for 4 rods.

Fished it a couple of times 2 seasons ago. It's a very nice fly water, as has been said - the junction with the Feugh is "hot" but in higher water the flow off the Feugh tends to push the line out into a type of eddie that can drag the line down. (The rivers meet close onto 90 degrees).
Better in higher "spring" water to fish the "green bank" just up from the hut - don't need a long cast at all - the fish hug in close to the edge.
"Wattie" - a very good guy, knows the river well and partial I hear to a wee drop of "Fettercairn" - whatever that is ?? ;D ;D
