Can anyone give me come information/advice regarding the ADAA water? Best pools in spring etc. Really, just any tips on where to fish when and where the fish are caught throughout the season.
Just joined the Association and don't know the beats.
Thanks ;D

Sloggi the Don would be your best bet in the spring. The fish pass straight through Garthdee and Banchory Devenick so give the Dee a miss untill the sea trout come in. Try Kemnay if you can get out there. Also worth trying the water at Fintray and of course the Manse pool will also hold fish. A lot depends on how cold a winter we get though. If its mild the fish will go well up river. If we get very cold weather the fish are that bit more reluctent to push on untill the water temp rises. Hope that help you. When you are ready to fish the Dee give me a shout and I'll show you the pools and where a lot of the fish lie.

Sloggi,
Have a look on the ADAA website, there are some good beat descriptions in there and will give you an idea of where to head. Upper Parkhill is a good place to start. You will find plenty of members there fishing the hotspots. Kemnay is worth a go but leave it until late March.

Thanks Guys
Jollyrodger - I'll get back to you regarding a tour of the Dee water - thanks for that.
I must say the ADAA website is ok re beat descriptions but offers litte refulgence re where and when fish are caught. I have suggested to the President that they adopt a "catch returns" page similar to the one used by the Grantown Association which is really helpful.

sloggi,
I suggested that previously, however one or two are sceptical who feel that it may bring visitors who don't use rods, if you get my drift.

Yes, but that sounds more like dogmatism from the association that claims to have their water well watched. As far as I'm aware Leggart Terrace would be the main pool for poaching and it's unusual to hear of poaching there or anywhere on the Dee system for that matter.
I would guess that any self-respecting poacher would go for beats where there are a few more fish and fewer people around.
On the ADAA website, the "fishing reports" are in need of clarity! Does anyone know if or when fish have been caught?

Sloggi,
The reports are retrospective, they tried getting memeber to update the website regarding catches. You will soon find very few publicise fish caught, it's a matter of being at the right beat at the right time. When you fish the waters most will point you in the right direction.
